A to Z Challenge Winner 2026I'm honored to be picked as an A to Z Blogging Challenge Winner for 2026. As a decade-plus participant, I've won a couple of awards, but this recognition is equally as special.

The first award I won was in 2011 from The Altdorf Correspondent. The TAC was the Warhammer blog of Magnus Seter, I won the 2011 Best of Fans award for my A to Z participation on my old blog, Another Caffeinated Day (archived, but not live). I often would say in many online profiles after that recognition, “I may introduce myself as ‘Award Winning Blogger and Gamemaster...'." 

With this, I may again add it to my bio.

For 2016, I started my journey with one goal and quickly pivoted to working from different source material. This was mostly to maintain a “work-life-blogging" balance. It was a struggle a few times as I did not pre-write or schedule posts. Many of my entries would be after 8 p.m. Some may have noticed. It was just much easier to dip into the well of active play rather than listen to actual plays recorded 11 years ago.

For my guest post, I'll be talking about my hobby as a deep well for creativity. I'm looking forward to continuing my referrals from A to Z to Table Top Roleplaying Games.

May-June Update and Goals

Busy month of May following my A-to-Z Challenge 2025 reentry into blogging. June will likely prove to be as busy, but I'm hoping to restart more regular blogging and take opportunities to write and schedule. This may prove to be a better way for me to blog as I often start on something “more important," relatively, and then pass on firing up blogger. May highlights include: The dash to mid-year performance feedback—and I had a lot of requests!—and these take time. Trust me. Ever have to provide “ Opportunities" for a hi-performing colleague? Try it some time. We brewed our Summer blonde ale, Beached Blond (2025) , a couple of weeks ago. Kegged, chilled, and ready for the beach. Games, games, games! The Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay (4e) game continues apace with a summer break, somewhat forced by personal matters, ahead. But I'll be back with a Niklos Tale soon. Finding the right game event for a narrative, while a challenge, shows that there's a lot of possibilities...

On the Explosion of Solo gaming

I've started seeing an emergent trend in Role Playing Games (RPGs) of late.  The issue with using the word “emergent" is that the algorithms at play in many platforms are geared to feeding you more of what you watch. Platforms become echo chambers.  Solo gaming may in fact not be emergent at all. But I consume a lot of role playing media on YouTube and there are a few “soloists" that I've caught and thus YouTube desires to feed the beast. Of the two “soloists" that have my attention, the first has more than 20,000 subscribers, the other just 920. The former is published, the latter is prolific and seems to be highly detail oriented with a lot of personal frameworks to drive the story telling in a purely randomly generated manner. X is for Xe'ddu, True Name of a Lesser Daemon of Slaanesh

Xe'ddu has many names to mortals. As all daemons fail to grasp the purposes for which they are summoned, pulled to the material planes by rituals old and new, and often in service of Greater daemons or the Dark Prince and Lord of Pleasure and Excess, Slaanesh. The One of Whips, Holder of the Lash, Nine Tails, and many other names have been used in mortal rituals. These names are quite literal in that they recognize Xe'ddu's favored instrument in her service to Slaanesh: the whip.  She cares not what the mortals call her. Though she would never reveal her true name. For a mortal to know her true name would be to cede control on the mortal plane. And yet a mortal may bargain with Xe'ddu's masters to learn her true name. Such a bargain would carry a cost, but Xe'ddu knows that for the right sacrifice to her whips, perhaps a new cultist that imagines divine pleasure at the end of her untiring lashes, Xe'ddu may offer the name of other lesser daemons.
